Breakdown
My car has been towed to Motacare what happens now?
Firstly your car will be stored in a locked secure compound. The next step will depend on what you stated to the Patrolman when you broke down. If you asked for your car not to be touched we will not touch it. You have 5 days to decide what you are doing with the vehicle before you will be charged storage.
If you asked us to have a look at your vehicle we will confirm an authorised dollar value (generally equating to 1 hours labour), then we will give you a call to acknowledge the vehicle has arrived.
Once your vehicle has arrived we will perform an inspection up to the agreed value and give you an estimate for the full repair. WE WILL NEVER GO OVER THE AUTHORISED AMOUNT WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION. Once we have given you an estimate the authorised amount will go towards the repair.
Please ensure that you have you are available on your phone as without authorisation the repair cannot commence.
When the repair is complete we will give you a call to let you know that you can come and pick up your vehicle.
Please be aware that Motacare provides a secure locked compound, however, your vehicle is stored at your own risk. So please make sure that all valuables are removed from the vehicle before it is towed.
Vehicle Inspections
Do you do onsite tests?
No, we don’t. We believe there is nothing like checking a car on a hoist. We wouldn’t want to skip over, or miss something important while trying to complete a Pre Purchase check on the ground. That’s why we have cars come into the workshop- so we can provide a thorough check.
How do I get the vehicle to you Workshop?
We recommend speaking with the seller to arrange delivery of the vehicle to the workshop.
What happens to the test?
The test is yours. You paid for it. You will be emailed a copy and will get to speak with the mechanic who performed the test. We do not discuss results with the person presenting the car. You may wish to use these test results to bargain with the seller.
How do I pay for the test?
Usually, the tests are paid for with a credit card over the phone. You are welcome to direct debit, or eftpos at our offices. However, the funds must be cleared before we start the test.
How much do the Pre Purchase Inspections cost?
The price can vary depending on the type of vehicle, the age and how comprehensively you want the vehicle inspected. It’s best to give us a call so we can give you an accurate price.
Child Restraints
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. The main reason is that we have to make sure that our highly trained staff members are available and have enough time in their schedule to perform the work.
Do I need to bring anything?
Please bring the seat if you have it, and an old towel if possible. The towel can be a useful tool to help position the seat.
How long does it take?
Depends on how much information you want to get out of our trained fitter. We recommend allowing a minimum of 20 minutes, adding extra time for answering any questions you may have.
Don’t forget you’re welcome to bring along any friends or family members that will be using the vehicle and seat, best that everyone knows the correct procedures.
